Plant a Card was launched upon an unsuspecting public in November 2007. Born entirely through the frustration of not being able to purchase any environmentally conscious greetings cards, an idea was born that is both practical and functional, but above all kind to the environment.

All our cards are produced with seeds contained in a biodegradable capsule that will instantly dissolve when a section of the card is removed and planted releasing the seeds into the ground for germination. This secondary function enables you to plant a long lasting visual image, be that a plant or a tree for that special person, occasion, or event.
As well as the obvious practical implications, it is also environmentally friendly, helping neutralize carbon emissions plus giving everyone who purchases greetings cards a chance to combat the greenhouse effect and cover their carbon footprint.
All our cards are printed on NineLives paper which is made from 25% post-consumer waste, 30% pre-consumer waste and 45% original chlorine-free fibre to the awarded international standards ISO14001.
Printing responsibly is something we should all be aware of and here at Plant a Card we are constantly reviewing what we print - the use of inks, print processes, weights of paper, and so on. A lot of work has already been carried out in this area, and improvements will continually be made in the coming year to identify more opportunities to reduce our environmental impact through design and printing.
